Guwahati: Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on Friday announced the launch of the Naga International Studio with celebrated composer A.R. Rahman, aiming to promote creative talent and showcase Naga culture globally.
In a social media post, Rio said the studio will act as a centre for talent development, storytelling, and the production of music and creative content inspired by Nagalandโs cultural heritage.
He expressed gratitude to Rahman for recognising the stateโs creative potential and for choosing to invest in it.
The Chief Minister added that the initiative is expected to create opportunities for young artists, musicians, filmmakers, and storytellers from Nagaland and the broader Northeast, providing access to professional infrastructure and global exposure without leaving the region.
Rio highlighted that the Naga International Studio will combine traditional Naga music, narratives, and indigenous art forms with modern production techniques, aiming to preserve cultural identity while reaching international audiences.
Officials noted that the collaboration with A R Rahman, known globally for his musical excellence and innovation, could position Nagaland as an emerging creative and cultural hub.
The studio is also expected to generate employment, promote creative entrepreneurship, and strengthen the stateโs creative economy.
Details regarding the location, timeline, and investment are yet to be announced.
Cultural practitioners and youth organisations have welcomed the initiative, viewing it as transformative for Nagalandโs creative ecosystem.
