The District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) of Dimapur in Nagaland has on Tuesday approved a proposal to re-introduce bus services within Dimapur City.
A meeting in this regard was held at the Deputy Commissioner’s conference hall on Tuesday.
According to informed sources, the city bus services will become operational with effect from the first week of September.
Initially, four buses will ply between Dimapur to Chumukedima and Chumukedima to Dimapur.
Ten more buses presently under renovation will also be pressed into service in due course of time.
The DPDB also agreed to extend the bus services to Medzhiphema, Niuland, Doyapur etc.
Notably, two ‘pink buses’ will ferry only ladies from Dimapur to Kohima.
Meanwhile, the Transport Department has sought the cooperation of district administration, police, traffic, DMC and all the stakeholders for successful operation of the all-ladies bus service in Dimapur.
