After his release from the jail following one year imprisonment, Sikkim Krantikari Morcha president PS Golay on Monday dared Sikkim Democratic Front for an open debate on any issue concerning the state.

He alleged that the political motive of Sikkim Democratic Front party is not good and sincere towards the people of the state. Golay said the ruling government is trying to deceive the people by making false promises keeping in view the 2019 elections.

He said the ruling party cannot deceive the people once again with its false promises.

Golay was released from the State Central Prison, Rongneck in East Sikkim after completing the sentence of one year imprisonment on August 10. He addressed his first press conference after his release here on Monday. He lashed out at the ruling SDF on various issues.

“We are ready for any debate with SDF party on any issue in the presence of the people of Sikkim at Paljor Stadium. We challenge the SDF party and the CM to debate with us on any issue,” Golay said. He further added that it was not appropriate for SDF party to talk about its principles and programmes.

Golay has expressed his gratitude to the people of Sikkim for their participation in Jan Unmukti Diwas of SKM party on August 10 to welcome him. He said the huge gathering of the people was historic in the state.

“The huge gathering on August 10 was an outcome of anger in the minds of the people of Sikkim which was manifested on Jan Unmukti Diwas. If the people were really happy and satisfied with the SDF government then this huge gathering would not be there,” he said.

The SKM president alleged that the ruling party used all modes of obstruction through anonymous posters and leaflets and misinformation to stop the people to participate in the rally. He thanked the people especially youths, women and employees of Sikkim for their constant love and support and to those who came to met him in jail.

“I will never break this trust of the people and dedicate rest of my life to serve the people of Sikkim and make them free from all bondages,” he said.

“The state government should immediately withdraw its notification of providing arrears from January 1, 2017 otherwise SKM would launch its indefinite hunger strike till death,” he announced.

He also alleged nepotism and favouritism in government jobs.

He pointed out that the CM has again announced distribution of laptops to students and providing one government job on muster roll or ad hoc basis to every house in Sikkim in view of the upcoming election.

“This was just an announcement to get votes and if the government really has willpower then it should immediately provide permanent jobs to house without any government employee,” he asserted. Golay further demanded the CM to immediately fulfill announcements to regularise all ad hoc and muster roll employees, to abolish the labour contractor system and others in the interest of people of Sikkim.

While recalling the CM’s statement on the injustice to Sikkimese Nepali due to past leaders in the state, Golay asserted that if the CM was really sincere towards Sikkimese Nepali then he should immediately call an assembly to pass a resolution for seat reservation in the Assembly and send it to the centre.
