The subject teacher, who assaulted the principal of JM Higher Secondary School of Mankachar in South Salmara- Mankachar district on Wednesday morning after a tiff over irregularities, has been arrested by police on Thursday.

It may be mentioned that the entire episode was captured in the CCTV installed in the principal’s room.

Following the incident, the principal of the school lodged a complaint against Mohammad Hussain, subject teacher at the Mankachar Police Station alleging that he was attacked by the teacher in his office chamber.

Acting on the complaint, Mankachar Police arrested the teacher and produced him before the Hatsingimari court on Wednesday and the court sent him to the judicial custody on Thursday.

A case was registered against Mohammad Hussain at Mankachar Police Station. The case (No 498/2018) was registered under sections 448 (Punishment for criminal intimidation)/427 (Mischief causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees)/325 (Punishment for voluntarily causing grievous hurt)/353 (Assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty)/307 (Attempt to Murder) and /506 (Punishment for criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

When contacted, SK Jadav, Inspector of Schools, Dhubri, said that his office has already taken the serious note over the issue and ordered to conduct of departmental inquiry into the matter.

As regards to the suspension of the alleged teacher, his office has informed to the higher authority in this regard and the Director of Secondary Education, Assam, who is the appointing authority, would take a decision upon the issue as per Assam service rule, added the Inspector of Schools.
