In a major breakthrough Tripura Police arrested one of the drug mafias from Panisagar on Thursday. A team of police personnel led by SDPO, Panisagar, Rajeev Sutradhar arrested the local drug kingpin Kishore Nath from his residence at Santipara area of Panisagar.

Acting on a tip off, police team raided the house of Kishore Nath and caught him red handed with brown sugar and Yaba tablets.

According to police, another drug mafia Ranjit Debnath who was arrested recently with 204 grams of heroin divulged Kishore’s involvement in the drug business in the locality during the interrogation.

Kishore is the drug kingpin of the area who peddles drugs and other contraband items across the state and even abroad.

As soon as the accused got information about the possible raid by police he set the brown sugars and Yaba tablets on fire. However, police managed to catch hold of him along with the contraband items.

During the search operation police recovered 500 denominations of Rs 2, 65,000 besides currencies of Nepal and Bangladesh.  Five mobile phones, one weigh machine were also recovered from the possession of the accused.

Tripura Police sought police remand for Nath and a case (no 30/2018) has been registered against him.
