An unexpected storm on Monday night in Assam’s Bongaigaon district has caused extensive damage in several places across the district.
Places like Solmari, Numburpara, Sakla and Kokila of South Salmara in the district bore the brunt of nature’s fury.
Residential houses were damaged while several trees were uprooted in the area.
Traffic was disrupted across several roads in the region as huge trees that were uprooted in the storm fell on the streets.
On the other hand, a massive tree fell on a newly constructed house at Solmari.
Though the house was completely damaged, the inmates had a providential escape.
Power supply was snapped as several electricity poles were damaged in the storm.
Meanwhile, the locals have urged the concerned authorities to compensate the affected families at the earliest.
