Manjit Gogoi, a Border Security Force (BSF) jawan was killed after he fell from a running train at the Titabar Railway Station in Jorhat district on Sunday.
According to information, Gogoi, who was a resident of Pubali Nagar in Titabar Sub-division, was coming home on leave from Cooch Behar in West Bengal, where he was posted, by the Jhajha Express, which actually does not stop at Titabar.
Sources said, “BSF jawan Manjit Gogoi, on the assumption that the train would slow down at Titabar Railway Station, tried to alight, but he suddenly slipped and both of his legs got cut by the train which had picked up speed.”
Seriously injured Gogoi was rushed to Jorhat Medical College and Hospital (JMCH) where he breathed his last.
The incident took place at around 10 am in the morning on Sunday.
