The All BTC Minority Students’ Union (ABMSU) observed the first death anniversary of its leader Lafikul Islam Ahmed at Bhotgaon in Kokrajhar on Wednesday as Chatra Sanghati Divas marking his contribution towards the students’ community in the region.
Lafikul was shot dead at Titaguri Bazar on August 1, 2017, by miscreants.
The president of the ABMSU, Shahkamal Khandakar, hoisted the union’s flag marking half-mask in respect to late Lafikul followed by floral tribute to the late leader.
Assam Social Welfare Minister Pramila Rani Brahma, younger brother of Lafikul, Mohidul Islam, offered floral tribute to the late ABMSU leader on the occasion. The editor of Pratidin Time news channel Nitumani Saikia graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
Kokrajhar Lok Sabha MP Naba Kumar Sarania, senior journalist Manjit Mahanta, general secretary of All Boro Students’ Union (ABSU) Lawrence Islary were the prominent guests present at the memorial lecture organised on the occasion with Shakamal Khandakar in the chair.
Nitimoni Saikia expressed his concern over slow progress of the CBI investigation into Lafikul Islam Ahmed murder case which has crossed one year on Wednesday. He urged the investigating agency and the State Government to do the needful for a speedy investigation and nab the main culprits involved in the murder.
