A memorandum of understanding (MoU) for establishing seven primary Bamboo Processor Units in the North Eastern states was signed at the North Eastern Council in Shillong on Monday.
The MoU was signed between Cane and Bamboo Technology Centre (CBTC), Assam and Indian Plywood Industries Research and Training Institute (IPIRTI), Bangalore.
The MoU was signed by Dr. RK Mohanty, Director IPIRTI and Gautam Chintey, Adviser (BIT), NEC and Secretary in-charge CBTC in the presence of NEC secretary, Ram Muivah and Chairman, CBTC and other officials from the NEC and CBTC.
Under the MoU, seven primary Bamboo Processor units would be established in the North Eastern states.
The project has been funded by the Central government through the Ministry of DoNER under its Science and Technology interventions in the North Eastern Region (STINER) scheme for promoting bamboo industries in the North Eastern Region. (EoM)
