Enraged teachers, students, and local residents staged a sit-in protest, demanding justice and strict punishment for the culprits.

Imphal: A 59-year-old school headmaster was brutally assaulted by two armed assailants at the Irilbung High School in Manipur’s Imphal East district on Thursday morning.

The attackers believed to be under the influence of alcohol, struck headmaster Nongthombam Nilakamol with iron rods, causing severe head injuries.

The incident is linked to a demand letter issued by the outlawed KCP group on October 25.

The group had demanded Rs. 50,000, while the headmaster could only afford Rs. 23,000.

Following a heated argument over the monetary demand, the assailants attacked the headmaster and fled the scene.

The injured headmaster was rushed to JNIMS Hospital for medical treatment.
