Accompanied by the talented tabla player Rupak Bhattacharjee, Majumdar’s performance was a captivating blend of classical Indian music.

Earlier that day, Majumdar had also enthralled students at DPS, Dibrugarh. At MDKG College, he not only showcased his virtuosity through various ragas but also engaged with the students, answering their queries about Indian classical music.

The event was organized by the SPICMACAY Dibrugarh chapter, which aims to promote Indian classical music. Majumdar will be performing at several schools and Dibrugarh University during his visit.

Pandit Ronu Majumdar, a disciple of the legendary Pandit Ravi Shankar, is renowned for his mastery of the flute. His music is deeply rooted in the Maihar gharana, a prestigious musical lineage.

A recipient of numerous accolades, including the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award, Majumdar has been instrumental in popularizing the flute globally. He has collaborated with renowned musicians like R.D. Burman, Vishal Bhardwaj, and international artists such as Philip Glass and Ry Cooder.

A Rising Star of Tabla

Rupak Bhattacharjee, a top-grade artist of All India Radio and Doordarshan, is a distinguished tabla player. His training under Pandit Anindo Chatterjee has honed his skills, making him a sought-after performer.

“Our goal is to promote Indian classical music, and SPICMACAY provides a platform for this,” said Dr. Rajee Konwar, Chairperson of the SPICMACAY Dibrugarh chapter.

“This event offers a unique opportunity for the people of Dibrugarh to experience the magic of Indian classical music firsthand,” Konwar added.
