Assam Manipur: Two minors die after drowning in Churachandpur

Imphal: Four persons including a 24-year-old girl and an India Reserve Battalion personnel lost their lives in different incidents across Manipur during the past 24 hours.

Khumanthem Sima, 24, a resident of Khumanthem Leikai of Thoubal district was found hanging inside her room under mysterious circumstances at around 4 am.

The cause of the death is under investigation after registering a case at the Thoubal police station, the police said.

One 29-year-old personnel of the 3rd IRB, later identified as Sangjam Suraj was found dead near his bed inside the Barrack of the battalion stationed at Kakching district at around 3 pm on Friday.

The body has been deposited at the JNIMS hospital, Imphal for post-mortem, the police said.

One Dimping alias Leivon John (41), who was working at an automobile workshop at Kakching Kamkhai in Kakching district was found dead in a canal along with a four-wheeler at  Kakching Wairi Panjao Pallum Sallam, Kakching district under Kakching police station on Thursday.

The police retrieved the body and deposited it at the JNIMS mortuary. Though the exact cause of death is yet to be known, it is suspected that he met with a fatal accident while driving his vehicle.

Meanwhile, police fished out a male dead body from the Nailu River near Seijang Awang Leikai under the Yaingangpokpi police station in Imphal East district.

The body has been also deposited at the JNIMS for post-mortem and identification as per the law of the country.
