Guwahati: A couple was arrested by the police in Guwahati, Assam for allegedly operating a honey-trapping racket.
Police sources said that they arrested a man and a woman from the Hatigaon region of Guwahati based on a complaint.

The police said that the couple was allegedly involved in blackmailing an individual and extorting a huge amount of money.
They allegedly trapped a man to pay out Rs 15 lakhs and had further demanded Rs 10 lakh by blackmailing him.
However, the victim approached the police and lodged a complaint.

Based on the complaint, the police launched a probe and arrested the suspects.
The man was identified as Parash Baruah. A woman who may have been the mastermind of the crime was also arrested.
The police said that their modus operandi is being investigated.
