The academic buildings of the Gauhati University will be renamed after renowned scholars of Assam.
The union body of the University has demanded the renaming of the major academic buildings of the institution.The Vice-Chancellor of the university has given the go-ahead to the move put forward by the union body.
The New Academic Building will be renamed as Lakhinath Bezbaruah Bhawan, New Arts Building will be renamed as Surya Kumar Bhuyan Bhawan, Arts Building will be renamed as Dr. Banikanta Kakoti Bhawan, and AT Hall will be renamed as Bishnu Prasad Rabha Bhawan.
The naming of the buildings will come into effect by August.
