Guwahati: A team of the Directorate of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption, Assam, apprehended a government employee red-handed while allegedly accepting a bribe on Wednesday.

Prabin Machahary was identified as an Upper Division Assistant (UDA) at the Assistant Registrar’s office in Goalpara district.

He was apprehended for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 for the registration of a fishery business.

A trap was laid by the vigilance team, and Machahary was caught accepting Rs 10,000 as part of the demanded bribe.

The Directorate of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption announced the successful operation on social media, reaffirming their commitment to eradicating corruption in the state.

Further investigation related to the case is being carried out.
