Guwahati: The Special Task Force (STF) of the Assam Police nabbed three persons in connection with a counterfeit currency racket in Guwahati’s Khanapara area on Monday evening.
During the operation, the police team succeeded in confiscating fake notes worth Rs 8.3 lakh.
The operation, conducted near the under-construction Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT), was based on intelligence inputs, a police source said.

In addition to the counterfeit currency, the STF also recovered legitimate cash amounting to Rs 1.28 lakh.
Three individuals, including a woman, were arrested in connection with the case.

The suspects, identified as Sahil Ali, Ajay Vishwakarma, and a woman, were using their personal vehicle to transport the fake notes.
The police have seized the vehicle, registered as ‘AS 01 FZ 5890′, and the suspects’ mobile phones.
An investigation into the matter is currently underway to unravel the extent of the counterfeit currency racket.
