The United People’s Liberation Army (UPLA) in a message to media houses in Diphu of Karbi Anglong district of Assam said that it has observed its 4th martyrs’ day at general headquarter, Rongbin Aklam on Wednesday.

UPLA said the day-long programme began with the unfurling of the organization’s flag by the general secretary Songkim Engjai followed by floral tributes and lighting of lamps.

Self-styled sergeant SP Bey led the parade.

The occasion was attended by other revolutionary organizations supporting the UPLA.

General secretary Engjai on the occasion said that the Indian government has been trying to suppress the Karbi people in every way possible in their struggle for legitimate demands.

He also mentioned that the martyrdom of the comrade-in-arms will be forever remembered.

General secretary Engjai urged the cadres of the organization to adhere to the organization’s constitution, directives and principles till the last breath till peace is not back in the twin districts said the message.

In the message, however, the name of the twin hill districts is not mentioned.
