Nisha Moni Deka surrenders to the special branch of Assam Police in Kahilipara

ACS officer Nisha Moni Deka accused in the APSC cash-for-job scam who has finally surrendered has been sent to 14-day police custody. She has surrendered at the special branch of Assam Police in Kahilipara, Guwahati, after being on the run for more than 40 days.

Absconding ACS officer Nisha Moni Deka’s advocate told the High court that she is a mother of a two-month-old child and should be granted pre-arrest bail to take care of her child.

She was absconding since November 9 this year. She had applied several times for anticipatory bail but her bail plea was rejected by the court. A two-member bench of the apex court, NV Ramanna and Abdul Nazir, rejected the bail petition of Deka. Finally, on Tuesday she surrendered at the Special Branch of the Assam Police.

The total number of arrested in the entire case reaches 24 while one APS officer Rakesh Gupta is still on the run.
