Thoubal: Normal traffic flow from Imphal to Moreh, a distance of about 109 km on the National Highway 102 came to a grinding halt for the sixth day on Monday owing to road blockade agitation.

The drivers and members of Imphal Moreh Transport Association (IMTA) launched an indefinite road blockade agitation on this NH-102 on July 24.

The IMTA is protesting against the excessive extortion drives in the form of illegal taxes from the service vehicles plying along the Imphal-Moreh Road and confiscation of their possessions in the name of “tax”.

As a part of the protest, the volunteers of the Association on Monday staged a sit-in protest at Lamkang Centre on the Pallel-Chandel Road. Kt Ruwngam, president of the IMTA sought public cooperation in their protest and also called for a reduction in the taxes imposed along this route as well as the number of toll booths.
