Imphal: Three shops were destroyed in a fire that broke out at the Langpok Lamlong market of Nambol bazaar in Manipur’s Bishnupur district on Saturday night, officials reported on Sunday. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
According to Manipur Fire Services, three fire tenders were dispatched to the scene after receiving a call at 10:55 pm regarding a fire in a grocery shop located in Langpok Lamlong Market, approximately 12 km from Imphal.
The fire, which originated in the grocery shop, quickly spread to two adjacent shops: a chicken center and a stationery shop.
The shops, owned by Nongthonbam Indramani, Nongthonbam Anil, and Oinam Abung, were completely destroyed in the blaze.
The fire was brought under control and extinguished by 1 am on Sunday. The cause of the fire remains unknown. An assessment of the property damage will be conducted by Monday, officials added.
