Kalung Takhi and Michi Yamang were crowned men’s and women’s singles champions respectively of the Capital Complex Dree Festival Badminton Tournament-2018 that came to an end at the MLA Cottage Badminton Stadium here on Wednesday

The competition was organized by the Capital Complex Dree Festival Celebration committee (CCDFCC) as a run up to the Dree Festival of the Apatani Community.

Takhi defeated Mudo Ado in straight sets of 21-18 and 21-17 to take the men’s singles crown, Yamang defeated Dani Yakang 21-19 and 21-9 to clinch the women’s singles title.

The men’s doubles event saw the pair of Mudo Ado and Michi Takum defeat Koj Talley and Koj Tagia in a hard fought match. The score line of the match, when ended read 21-8, 24-26 and 21-8.

The women’s doubles on the other hand witnessed Nani Ankha and Dani Yakang take the coveted title as they defeated the pair of Koj Sunka and Michi Yamung in straight sets.

Sports Authority of Arunachal (SAA), chairman, Bamang Tago gave away the prizes to the finalists.

In his speech, Tago congratulated the participants and appreciated the CCDFCC-2018 for organizing the badminton event. He said such endeavour will not only promote the sport of badminton but it would also contribute to the physical fitness of individuals participating in such events.

Among others, Yachuli Circle PWD SE Dani Gambo, PWD executive engineers Hage Obin and Byabang Togu witnessed the finals.

More than 100 players participated in the tournament which was held from June 26 to 27 here under the supervision of ASBA joint secretary cum national umpire Penya Bagra.

Pema Ladon, Gita Karki, Mode Nilling, Akshay Raito, Tania Biri and Asif Khan were the other umpires of the tournament.
