Agartala: Tripura Police arrested a man on Thursday and confiscated arms and a significant cache of Yaba tablets worth Rs 35 lakh from Matinagar village, a border area in the West District.
Dr. Kiran Kumar, Superintendent of Police for the West District, informed reporters that the Amtali Police Station had received a tip-off from the Border Security Force (BSF) regarding an individual in Matinagar, a border area in the West District, suspected of storing arms and drugs.
โActing on this information, the BSF and Tripura Police conducted a joint operation on Wednesday night at the residence of Sundar Ali (36). During the search of his home, we seized over 50,000 Yaba tablets, a semi-improvised 7.6 caliber pistol, seven live rounds, and Rs. 23,000 in Bangladeshi currency,โ Dr. Kumar stated.
The SP mentioned that Ali has been arrested and will be presented before the court to seek police remand for further interrogation.
โThe market value of the seized items is approximately Rs 35 lakh,โ he added.
