Agartala: In a significant breakthrough, the Agartala Government Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF) collaborated on Sunday night to apprehend two individuals involved in ganja smuggling at the Agartala railway station.

Acting swiftly on a tip-off, law enforcement officials conducted a joint raid, resulting in the arrest of Dipak Kumar and Roshan Roy.

During the operation, authorities seized a substantial quantity of contraband, with 61 kilograms of dry ganja recovered from the apprehended smugglers.

Further investigation revealed that the arrested individuals were transporting the illegal substance via train from Agartala to Bihar.

According to sources within the railway police, both Dipak Kumar and Roshan Roy hail from Bihar, with their respective residences identified in the state.

Following intensive interrogation, the railway police ascertained the duo’s involvement in a larger ganja smuggling network, prompting the registration of a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at the Agartala GRP police station.
