Tengnoupal Battalion of 26 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarters of Inspector General of Assam Rifles(South) recovered a total of 3000 World is Yours(WY) Amphetamine tablets in two separate incidents, according to Assam Rifles sources.
This is in continuation with the back to back recoveries of contraband drugs.
On June 22, 2018, at around 5.30pm, based on specific information received regarding movement of contraband drugs from Moreh towards Imphal, a silver coloured Maruti van (MN 02 B0919) was stopped for checking at Permanent Vehicle Check Post(PVCP),Khudengthabi, Tengnoupal District, says PRO Assam Rifles(South) aid in a press release.
While frisking of baggage, 1000 WY tablets were found hidden in a plastic bag full of chillies. Approximate cost of the contraband drug is Rs 5 lakh.
Apprehendee Lalramchuani(39) daughter of Late Lalhminglien of Zion Veng, New Lamka, Churachandpur District along with recovered item has been handed over to Moreh Police Station, it said.
On June 23, 2018, at around 11 am, a blue coloured Maruti Eeco van (MN 01S 0216) was stopped for checking at PVCP, Khudengthabi. While frisking and carrying out through checking of baggage, 2000 WIY tablets were found hidden inside both socks of one of the passengers., it added
Approximate cost of the contraband drug is Rs 10 lakhs. Apprehendee Thenkholun Baite (54) son of Late Paojang Baite of Yangoulen, Khengjoi, Chandel District along with recovered item is being handed over to Moreh Police Station, it said.
O June 21, the Tengnoupal Battalion of 26 Sector Assam Rifles in yet another major haul, seized 7.740 kgs of WY tablets and 690 grams of Brown Sugar worth Rs 7 crores from a Jungle track near Khudengthabi in Manipur’s Tengnoupal district. Since March 2018 till date, contraband drugs worth Rs 49.174 crores have been seized by 26 Sector Assam Rifles.
The recent recoveries came out after a Narcotics and Affairs of Border team of Manipur police arrested Lhunkhosei alias Sesei Zou (51) along with seven other associates and seized more than Rs 27 crores worth heroin (4.595kg) and WY Amphetamine tablets (2.80 lakh in number) and Rs 57.18 lakhs in cash , in a night long operation on June 19.
