Police on Thursday arrested one 47-year-old Rajesh Choudhury for allegedly molesting a minor boy at Margherita in Tinsukia district of upper Assam.

As per information, Rajesh is the proprietor of Margherita Mukesh Tailor.

According to police, the accused on Thursday asked the minor boy to help him open the shutter of his shop and allegedly dragged him inside the shop and molested him.

On hearing the screams, the locals rushed inside the shop and thrashed the accused.

A case (No 160/2018) has been registered at the Margherita Police Station under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012.

Locals alleged that the accused forcibly dragged the minor inside his tailoring shop and molested him for half an hour.

However, crimes against minors have been rising alarmingly in Assam in the past one year and many instances have been reported from different parts of Assam.
