GUWAHATI: The Assam government has announced public holidays on polling days of the Lok Sabha elections in the state.
The Assam government has declared April 19, April 26 and May 07 as public holidays to ensure active participation from the electorate in the Lok Sabha elections.
The elections for the 14 Lok Sabha constituencies in Assam will be conducted in three phases, scheduled for April 19, April 26 and May 07.
The results of the Lok Sabha elections will be declared on June 04.
Assam’s electoral process has been divided into three phases to ensure a systematic and efficient voting process across the state.
Assam comprises 14 Lok Sabha constituencies, each playing a pivotal role in shaping the political landscape of the state and the nation as a whole.
The stage is set for a fierce electoral showdown in Assam as the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the opposition Congress, and various regional parties gear up for the highly anticipated 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Phase 1: Polling Date – April 19
Constituencies: Kaziranga, Sonitpur, Lakhimpur, Dibrugarh, Jorhat
Phase 2: Polling Date – April 26
Constituencies: Darrang-Udalguri, Diphu, Karimganj, Silchar, Nagaon
Phase 3: Polling Date – May 7
Constituencies: Kokrajhar, Dhubri, Barpeta, Guwahati
In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP secured victory in nine out of the 14 parliamentary constituencies in Assam, marking a substantial increase from its previous tally of two seats in 2014.
The Congress secured victory in three seats, whereas the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) won one seat.
Additionally, the BJP garnered a noteworthy vote share of 36 percent, surpassing the Congress which secured 35.4 percent of the votes.
