Guwahati: Two suspected drug peddlers were arrested in Hojai, Assam with a consignment of possible drugs worth Rs 32 lakhs.

As per sources, a team from the Murajhar police station nabbed the suspects with the said drugs.

The police nabbed the men from the Pub Samarali village located in Murajhar, Hojai.

They had specific inputs about the persons possessing a huge haul of suspected Yaba tablets, the source said.

Around 6,400 Yaba tablets in separate small packets were seized during the raid by the police.

Further investigation found that the tablets were meant for peddling and had a value of Rs 32 lakhs (estimated).

The police following the discovery of the suspected drugs, arrested Faizudddin and Mahboob Alam. 

They were arrested on charges of being involved in drug peddling.

It was further found that they brought the drugs from Dimapur, Nagaland to peddle them here in Assam.

A motorcycle was also seized during the operation. 

The police have begun a further investigation into the incident.
