“A sneak peek of the stunning species of birds and animals that await Shri @narendramodi ji tomorrow, as he becomes the first Prime Minister to visit the Kaziranga National Park since 1957,” wrote Sarma

“Assam's crowned jewel is home to- Largest habitat of rhinos , over 600 species of birds , a thriving population of dolphins and of the highest density of tigers,” he added

PM Modi will spend the night in a guest house located in the park on March 8 before embarking on a safari in the park the next morning

Sarma had earlier claimed that Modi’s visit to Kaziranga would help increase its footfall of tourists

Modi will be a two-day visit to Assam from March 8 to March 9 and he is expected to participate in a slew of activities besides visiting the famous national park

During his visit, Modi is slated to unveil the 125 feet statue of Bir Lachit Barphukan at Hollongapar, lay the foundation stone of Sivasagar Medical College , inaugurate the 718 km long Barauni-Guwahati natural gas pipeline

He will also distribute dwelling houses to PMAY-G beneficiaries besides taking part in a host of other developmental works in Assam
