IMPHAL: The Manipur government has implemented a five-day suspension on mobile internet services across Churachandpur district.
The mobile internet services in Churachandpur district of Manipur was suspended after violence erupted in the district following suspension of police head constable.
The suspension on mobile internet services in Churachandpur district of Manipur came into effect from 1:40 am on Friday (February 16).
This precautionary measure aims to facilitate the smooth functioning of administration, the Manipur government informed.

In an order issued by Dr Mayengbam Veto Singh, joint secretary to the Manipur home department, said that the temporary suspension or restriction of internet services, mobile data services, and VPN-based internet/data services in the entire revenue jurisdiction of Churachandpur District has been mandated for five days starting from 1:40 am on February 16.
The order emphasizes concerns regarding potential misuse of social media platforms by certain anti-social elements to disseminate images, posts, and video messages inciting public unrest.
