Two arrested in Tripura with Yaba tablets worth Rs. 78 lakh.

Agartala: In Kamalpur, under the Dhalai district, Tripura Police seized a substantial quantity of Yaba tablets valued at Rs. 78 lakh and apprehended two individuals on Thursday night.

Dhalai Additional Superintendent of Police, Manabendra Rai, revealed that they acted upon a tip-off regarding a four-wheeler en route to Agartala city, transporting a significant contraband load from Dharmanagar in the North District, which shares an interstate boundary with Assam and Mizoram.

โ€œLate Thursday evening, we initiated tracking of the vehicle, setting up checkpoints and alerting police personnel. Upon its arrival, we detained the vehicle, conducted a thorough search, and discovered 78,000 Yaba tablets concealed in 39 small containers within a secret chamber,โ€ stated the ASP.

He added that the driver, identified as Mridul Hossain, and co-driver, identified as Tinku Miah, both residents of Sepahijala district sharing a substantial portion of the international border with Bangladesh, have been arrested.

โ€œThe estimated market value is approximately Rs. 78 lakh. A case has been registered against them, and an investigation is underway,โ€ informed the ASP.
