In a honey trapping case, a 46-year-old woman and a youth were arrested on Sunday for allegedly making obscene videos of people and later extorting money from them in Guwahati.
Hatigaon police apprehended the woman, who is a mother of two and the 29-year-old youth Dibya Jyoti Das based on a complaint filed by a city-based income tax official.
Both of them have been sent to 14-day judicial custody by a local court here.
The official told the police that a woman called him on his mobile phone after which the two became friends. She made some obscene video when the official had gone to her place.
“She made his objectionable video and demanded money from him, not adhering to which she would release his video on social media,” said a police official
During interrogation, the accused told the police that they had extorted money from several people using the same modus operandi.
“They used to make videos of the victims to extort them. None of the men they targeted reported the matter to the police for the sake of their reputation,” said the official.
