Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Saturday attended the prayer service at Donyi Polo Gangging in presence of State BJP President Tapir Gao, Health Minister Alo Libang, Power Minister Tamiyo Taga including Parliamentary Secretaries Gum Tayeng, Tatung Jamoh, Kaling Moyong, Lombo Tayeng and Olom Panyang.
The Chief Minister on his arrival performed the ‘taku tabat’ ritual followed by lighting of candles and offering prayers to almighty Donyi Polo for peace and prosperity of mankind.
Following the participation in the opening prayer song ‘Kumdung Donyi Nom’, the Chief Minister performed the tying of sacred thread.
Khandu while addressing the gathering stressed on preservation of indigenous culture and identity that makes Arunachal a unique and attractive place in this world.
He said developed nations especially the western world is on brink of losing their culture due to their pursuit for materialistic happiness. For solace and peace, they are now looking towards eastern civilizations that have still preserved their ancient ways of life.
He said Arunachal in this matter is blessed to have its indigenous culture intact and called upon the people to preserve their culture.
For preservation of indigenous culture, the CM said the state government will always be forthcoming in such efforts and assured funds for building of a multi-storied cultural building in the premises of Gangging.
