Based on specific inputs received from local sources about presence of one hardcore over-ground worker in Salbari general area, the Army based in Chirang along with Chirang Police launched a joint operation in the intermittent night of June 2 and June 3, 2018 in the area.

As per information, a search operation was carried out in the Salbari general area of Chirang district.

Sources said, “During the search operation in a house, a hardcore over-ground worker was nabbed by the joint team of Army and police personnel along with one 7.62 mm pistol, two live rounds of ammunition, two fired cases and extortion notes.”

The individual has been identified as Bilifang Narzary, who has been identified as a hardcore over-ground worker of the anti-talk faction of the National Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB-S).

The operation was a result of high vigilance level of the security forces.

“This is a major setback to the militant group and was a severe blow to the efforts of National Democratic Front of Bodoland (S) in extortion activities. This operation will go a long way in enhancing the safety of the civilians and the moral ascendency achieved by the security forces,” informed defence sources.
