The sleuths of anti-smuggling unit of Customs, Imphal seized five gold biscuits of ‘foreign origin’ worth around Rs 25 lakh from the possession of an individual on Thursday.

The gold biscuits weighing around 830 grams in total were recovered from the possession of one Gourav Yogi (26) son of Rajesh Yogi of Nehru Nagar in Rajasthan from Nagamapal near Food Villa in the heart of Imphal town, Customs officials told Northeast Now.

Investigation is going on for further steps, a senior Customs official said.

On May 26, Customs officials stationed at Pallel town in Manipur seized five gold biscuits of ‘foreign origin’ with ‘Diamond’ marking on the edge worth around Rs 26 lakhs from the possession of an individual. Similarly on May 25 also, the anti-smuggling unit of Customs, Imphal arrested two individuals along with 12 gold bars worth Rs 62 lakhs concealed inside their rectum.
