Hamro Sikkim Party (HSP) will be officially launched on May 31 at Daramdin in West Sikkim. The party was announced in a press conference on April 28 at New Delhi and has been doing ground works in the state since then.
Addressing a press conference here on Sunday founder member of the party MN Dahal said although HSP has been formed to work in the interest of Sikkim and its people but the party was formally announced in Delhi to raise important issues of Sikkim and lapses of state government before the Centre through national media. He said the party has been successful to take sensitive issues of the state to the centre so far.
He asserted that it was important to handover the system to the young generation to make Sikkimese society of their choice. The HSP has been born to bring young generation forward to lead the state. He said the party believes in the responsible and inclusive politics to bring change in the State.
“Hamro Sikkim Party is not Bhaichung Bhutia’s party but he is also an ordinary member like us in the party as we believe in the collective leadership,” Dahal clarified. The party is still looking for its president and name of the president may not be declared on the launching day.
Dahal alleged that government machinery has been used to obstruct the party programme. He said gram sabha has been called in areas of West Sikkim on the same day to stop people to attend the party programme. He alleged that gram sabha has been made as a weapon to suppress the democracy.
The launching function will be addressed by former skipper of Indian football team, Bhaichung Bhutia, former Minister, RB Subba and young leaders. The party will launch its flag the same day.
