Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed delight on seeing Assam based teacher Kumud Kalita among winners of National Teachers’Award 2023 on the eve of Teacher’s Day
A teacher of Pathsala Senior Secondary School, Kalita is the only one from the state among the 75 award winners of the country

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had an interaction with the winners of National Teachers’Award 2023 whom he described as the ‘nation’s exemplary educators’
Sharing some pictures of the gathering of the winners on X, Modi wrote, “Met our nation's exemplary educators who have been honoured with the National Teachers' Awards.”
“Their dedication to shaping young minds and their unwavering commitment to excellence in education is very inspiring. In their classrooms, they are scripting a brighter future for India's youth,” he added
The purpose of the National Teachers’ Award is to celebrate the unique contribution of some of the finest teachers in the country
It is also bestowed to honour those teachers who, through their commitment, have not only improved the quality of education but also enriched the lives of their students.
The award is given on the occasion of Teacher’s Day which is held on September 5 annually
Besides paying gratitude to our educators, Teacher’s Day is also an occasion to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan who was a distinguished teacher and a role model to many.
