Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma recently requested the tourists visiting Assam to stay in the beautiful ancient bungalows that abounds the lush green tea gardens in the state

The initiative of taking tea tourism in the state to new heights was taken after the completion of 200 years of the Assam Tea industry

Sarma, in a video on X (formerly Twitter) mentioned that Assam has now recorded a 527% increase in tourist arrivals

“Assam has recorded a 527% increase in tourist arrivals! To celebrate 200 years of Assam Tea, we are encouraging tourists to stay in the bungalows in our tea gardens,” he wrote in a caption

“Beautiful bungalows are there in our tea gardens built by the Britishers. Chinammara and many gardens have these beautiful bungalows,” said Sarma

“The Assam government has thought if we convert these bungalows to accommodate tourists, then tourism industry would develop,” he added

Sarma has requested the owner of 25 tea gardens to offer their bungalows to the Assam government for tourism development so that new possibilities in the tourism sector can be explored

The beauty of tea gardens can be witnessed fully when people stay inside a bungalow in the premises

From tea garden workers going about their wares to taking strolls among the lush greenery and tasting tea to revealing in beauty amidst a scenic spot, tea gardens are always prime tourism attractions

Sarma, who was recently in Jorhat, feels that it is ‘a naturally blessed district’ with attractions like Baghmara Chapori, Nimati Ghat, Soraipani Switch Gate, Nagapahar, Lachit Maidam, Sukapha Samannay Khetra contributing hugely to the tourism industry

He also said that Jorhat is also a place of spiritual interest with attractions like Dhekiakhowa Barnamghar, Rongajan Deonamghar, Gorokhia Dol, Barbatikhetra etc
