Critically acclaimed actor Adil Hussain from Assam has been nominated for the best actor (male) category at the Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards.

The Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards ceremony will be held in June at Bangkok, this year.

Adil Hussain was nominated for his performance in the film Mukti Bhawan by director Shubhashish Bhutiani.

Mukti Bhawan which is also known as hotel salvation. The film is a comedy-drama about a son who is forced to set his job aside to accompany his elderly father to the holy city of Varanasi.

When Daya thinks of attaining salvation in the ghats of Varanasi, he takes his son Rajiv along with him. As days pass, Daya finds a company in a widow while Rajiv is left in a state of dilemma.

Adil’s character Rajeev is forever flailing between the pragmatic and the profound, wondering if his father’s readiness for death makes any sense at all, and also questioning whether the hotel that promises salvation is itself haunted.

Adil also found a place in NDTV’s Ten Best Actors of 2017 list for his spectacular performance in Mukti Bhawan.

Some of the unforgettable performances by Adil include movies like Life Of Pi, The Reluctant Fundamentalist, Unfreedom. He’s also worked in the Norwegian film What People Will Say.
