The social organizations ‘24+’ said it is withdrawing the 24 hour bandh called by them from the morning of Saturday.
The organization leaders said the bandh has been withdrawn respecting the High Court.

At the press conference held at its office in Diphu, constituent organization of 24+, United Karbi Students Association (UKSA), president, Ratan Terang said, “The Gauhati High Court has directed Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) to create new rules and acts according to Para 2 Sub-para 7 of the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution of India within two weeks as such Para 2 Sub-para 6 of 1951 has become obsolete. The PIL was filed last year. Keeping this development in view and respecting the High Court we are withdrawing the bandh.”
Convenor, central working committee of 24+ organizations, Angtong Engti said, “Last year the Chief Executive Member (CEM) of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) said the matter was subjudice and he cannot take any action. Now, it is no longer subjudice, the High Court has directed KAAC to make new acts and rules.”
The 24+ organizations demands creation of a new voters’ list for election to KAAC, and acts and rules regarding the indigenous rights in Sixth Schedule areas in the state of Assam.
The press conference was attended by social organizations, leaders and activists.
