GUWAHATI: In Assam, from next year, there will be no high school leaving certificate (HSLC) exams.
This was informed by Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday (June 06).
According to CM Himanta Biswa Sarma the board of secondary education, Assam (SEBA) will not conduct the class 10 (HSCL) exam from the next academic year.
In fact, the class 10 exams will be held at school level.
However, the higher secondary (HS) exams will continue to be held as usual.
Furthermore, the state government is planning to merge SEBA with the Assam higher secondary education council (AHSEC).
The Assam chief minister said that the decision to merge SEBA with AHSEC and scrap the class 10 (HSLC) board exams are in line with the national education policy (NEP).

“To efficiently implement the policy (NEP), a plan is underway to merge SEBA and AHSEC and do away with class 10 board exams from this academic year,” said Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma.
The Assam chief minister further stated that “SEBA and AHSEC to be merged for administrative efficiency”.
He also assured that there will be no job loss due to the merger of SEBA with AHSEC.
