Mahabahu Brahmaputra River Heritage Centre has become one of the top places to visit in Guwahati

Situated in Panbazar area of Guwahati, this serene spot is highly favoured by the locales as a recreational space to visit with family

One of the main reasons of its popularity as a modern tourist hotspot is mostly because of the stunning views of the Brahmaputra River that one can enjoy from there

Besides the cozy viewing corners available in the gardens of the Centre, another reason of it being a popular recreational space is due to the availability of high end food chains there

The Centre which is built on a hillock which comprised of the DC’s bungalow of old is surrounded with tree lined walkways with beautiful art installations

It was this hillock from where the legendary Lachit Barphukan surveyed the battle with the Mughal army, and despite him being unwell, led a charge with his men for the decisive attack against the Mughals

The main attraction of the Centre is the 170 year old Heritage Bungalow which showcases various artifacts associated with the lifestyle and culture of Assamese people

The premises of the Centre remain open from 10 AM to 11 PM daily whereas entry to the Heritage Bungalow is available only from 10 AM to 9 PM everyday

The entry fees inside the Centre are Rs. 100 for people with ages ranging from 10 years to 75 years. However, entry is free for children below 10 years and for elderly people above 75 years
