One miscreant was arrested by the Silchar police in a special operation on Saturday night.
According to the police, Kamrul Islam Barbhuyan who goes by the alias Lekhoi – the accused was involved in around 5000 cases of motorbike theft and burglary.
In a joint operation launched by the Rangirkhari police and a team led by Cachar SP, illegal arms were recovered by the police from Kamrul’s house on Friday night.
According to the police the accused confessed his involvement in vehicle thefts since 2007. Police also said, “Kamrul has admitted to his involvement in drug supply and murder of two people. On the other hand he sells the stolen vehicles in Manipur and Mizoram.”
The police also arrested some others in the case.
