In the thick of nation-wide outcry over growing incidents of rape, another incident of gang-rape has left the State of Assam in shock and deep anguish.
The gruesome incident took place in Kapasbari area in Hojai district where miscreants allegedly gang-raped a girl.
As per reports, the miscreants from Samoguri in Nagaon district took away the girl in a truck in the wee hours of Tuesday and brought her to Kapasbari in Hojai district where they allegedly gang-raped and dumped her along National Highway 54 on Wednesday morning.
On Wednesday morning, the local residents witnessed the girl by the roadside.
They immediately informed the police.
It is reported that the victim, aged 20 years hails from Nagaon district.
The girl was later shifted to Nilbagan Mahatma Gandhi Model Hospital after initial treatment.
Later she has been referred to Nagaon Civil Hospital for further treatment.
Meanwhile, on the basis of a formal complaint, the police have begun investigation into the gory incident.
No arrest has been made so far.
