Britain’s longest reigning monarch Queen Elizabeth II passed away at the age of 96 in Balmoral Castle on September 8, 2022

The Government of India has decided that there will be one day State Mourning throughout India on September 11, 2022

On the day of mourning, the National Flag will be flown at half mast throughout India on all buildings where it is flown regularly and there will be no official entertainment

Queen Elizabeth II, who was born on April 21, 1926 as the first child of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, reigned for a period of 70 years and 214 days after being crowned at a young age of 25

She also holds the current distinction of being the world’s second-longest reigning monarch in history, after France's Louis XIV

The Queen was served by 15 UK Prime Ministers during her reign, beginning with Winston Churchill in 1952

Her real name is Elizabeth Alexandra Mary which has been taken from her mother Queen Elizabeth, paternal great-grandmother, Queen Alexandra, and paternal grandmother, Queen Mary.

She was educated at home like many girls from wealthy families at that time and got married to Prince Philip in Westminster Abbey on 20 November 1947

Queen Elizabeth II gave birth to four children-King  Charles III,  Princess Anne, Prince Andrew and Prince Edward

A period of Royal Mourning will be observed from now until seven days after The Queen’s Funeral which will be announced in due course of time
