Indian cricketer Suresh Raina announced his retirement from all formats of cricket on September 6, 2022
The left handed batter, who had been a prominent player of the four-time IPL champion Chennai Super Kings, made his announcement of retirement on Twitter
“It has been an absolute honour to represent my country & state UP. I would like to announce my retirement from all formats of Cricket,” Raina tweeted
Besides expressing his gratitude towards his fans, Raina made special mention of BCCI, Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association, CSK and former IPL chairman Rajiv Shukla in his tweet
“I would like to thank @BCCI , @UPCACricket, @ChennaiIPL, @ShuklaRajiv sir & all my fans for their support and unwavering faith in my abilities,” wrote Raina
Raina had retired from all forms of international cricket on August 15, 2020, the same day when MS Dhoni had also announced his decision of stepping down from the game
The 35-year-old had also served as the captain of IPL teamGujarat Lions in 2016
Raina, who is the first Indian batsman to hit a century in all three formats of international cricket, have played 18 Tests, 226 ODIs and 78 T20s.
