Debbarma seminar

Tripura Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Debbarma on Friday stressed on administrative accountability and said his government was committed to provide ‘transparent governance’ at all costs.

Debbarma said this while inaugurating a workshop on e-tendering at Prajna Bhawan in Agartala.

Jishnu Debbarma who also holds the finance portfolio said that all administrative procurement and management would be henceforth done through e-tenders.

While stating that some departments of the government have fared well in adapting to the new system while some others have not, urged those departments lagging behind to ‘catch up’.

As per the new regulations set forth by the State Government, any tender above Rs three lakh would have to drawn through e-tenders.

Details of any work order of Rs 25 lakh value or more would be displayed on government websites for accountability.

“We will put maximum emphasis on e-governance. It makes the system transparent. If there are bottlenecks, they can be solved. But e-tendering will not be avoided in any way,” he said.

While reiterating that the new government has laid highest priority to transparency and accountability, the Deputy Chief Minister said development and transparency goes hand in hand.

“Without transparency, corruption doesn’t end and development is impossible without a clean government,” he added.

Speaking on the occasion, Principal Secretary (finance) M Nagaraju dwelt at length about the new tendering system and said it would help bring more accountability and positivity in completing public works.
