One person was killed in a road mishap at Laupara along Tamulpur-Nagrijuli road Sunday night at about 9.30 pm under Nagrijuli police out post in the district of Baksa.
The deceased person has been identified as Kornel Soren (55), a teacher by profession, of village Nowakhat under Tamulpur subdivision.
Kornel had been serving as assistant teacher at Dakhin Laupara L P School.
After attending a marriage party at Tebitola village near Nagrijuli on Sunday night, Kornel Soren was returning home riding his motorcycle when the accident took place.
He was seriously injured in the accident. After getting information, Nikhil Singh, in charge of Nagrijuli police out post rushed to the spot and sent him to Tamulpur primary health centre with the help of local people.
But Kornel succumbed to his injuries. Nagrijuli police later sent the body for post mortem on Monday morning.
After post mortem, the body was taken back to his residence where villagers, fellow teachers, students and many followers paid their last respects to the departed person. He was later buried with Christian tradition.
Meanwhile, the cause of accident is not known as yet and the police are investigating to ascertain the cause of the accident.
