The Bodoland University Employees’ Union (BUEU) and the officers, under the banner of the All Assam University Employees’ Federation (AAUEF), observed one-hour token strike against non-implementation of the 7th Common Pay Committee (CPC) on Monday.
The Bodoland University Employees’ Union demanded early implementation of the 7th CPC and pay according to the employees of the State Universities of Assam, as the other State government employees of Assam who have been enjoying the benefits of revised pay scale since April, 2016.
The Secretary, BUEU, Parag Pratim Saikia, requests the State government to implement the 7th CPC before this Rongali Bihu as a gift to the employees of the State Universities.
Saikia also added that the 7th CPC was formed by the Vice-Chancellors of the Universities of Assam, who are the heads of the top higher educational institutions in the State and as such the committee had submitted the report in the month of January, 2018.
If the government does not take any necessary arrangement before Rongali Bihu, the next programme of agitation would be held on April 19, 2018 under the banner of the AAUEF, said Saikia.
