A three-day international conference on ‘Transforming Leadership for Global Social & Environmental Justice: Issues & Challenges’ with the motto ‘Think Globally, Act Locally’ is underway in Imphal.

The conference is being held under the aegis of G P Women’s College in Imphal in collaboration with Commonwealth Council for Educational Administration & Management (CCEAM) affiliated to the Commonwealth Consortium for Education (CCFE).

CCEAM is an organization dedicated to fostering cooperative and collaborative exchanges internationally amongst educational aspirants, management, professionals and administrators, according to Prof Hemlata Talesra.

The conference will help in disseminating knowledge and research.

Experts in diverse fields will present papers on the following sub-themes – Environmental Science, Humanities, Social Science, Life Science, Physical Science, Mathematics, Medical Science, Performing Arts, Teacher Education and Sports and Physical Education / Physical Health Education.

State’s Education Minister Th Radheshyam Singh inaugurated the three-day conference at GP Women’s College in Imphal on Friday.

Speaking at the inaugural function, the Education Minister Radheshyam said that leaders and leadership must have a democratic approach so that each individual are able to express their best views and give suggestions.

He opined that the ideas and suggestions formulated in the conferences will surely help in finding solutions to the problems and challenges faced by the society in a holistic manner.

Leaders, he asserted is someone who is chosen/appointed by a group (of people) and is entrusted with a certain task to be achieved.

The leaders are those who facilitate in accomplishing and achieving the global social, environmental justice by rising above the issues and challenges.

Radheshyam who also holds labour portfolio stressed that the positive solutions must be implemented otherwise, it will become insignificant.

Therefore the ideas should be converted into action through implementations as policy and programmes for the betterment of the world, he said.

Friday’s inaugural function was also attended by the resource persons, delegates and participants from different parts of the globe, country and the state along with the teachers, students of the colleges.
