The earlier FIR was lodged against him and five bureaucrats including three former chief secretaries in the month of September last year.

According to sources, a team of vigilance led by its SP, Hopeson Sapam, visited the former Chief Minister’s quarter at around 5 pm on Monday.

Okram Ibobi, who was the chairman of the project has been charged with ‘cheating, criminal conspiracy, criminal misconduct and abusing official position’ by a public servant.

The FIR reports mentioned that the offence was committed by the former Chief Minister and the bureaucrats during August 2008 to October 2009.

Notably, the Bharatiya Janata Party rode on this scam to storm into the corridors of power during the last Assembly elections.

It may be recalled that the LDA handed over the contract of cleaning the Loktak Lake to one K-pro Infra Works Limited in 2009 after floating proper tenders.

However, after four years, a report alleged that the company to whom the cleaning contract was handed over to was fake.
